New training centre to position Penang as Southeast Asia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) hub, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to talent development.
Bayan Lepas, Penang – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI), a global leader in medical technology, proudly announces the official opening of the B. Braun Technical Academy in Penang. This milestone marks a significant step in the company’s commitment to lifelong learning, technical excellence, and the development of Malaysia’s future-ready workforce.
Designed as a central hub for driving cultural transformation and advancing technical development, the B. Braun Technical Academy leverages the well-established German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) model. It offers a wide spectrum of learning opportunities, including Mechatronics, Fundamentals of Pneumatics, and other specialised technical courses, to upskill employees and develop a future-ready workforce
Key Achievements and Impact:
Strategic Vision for Malaysia’s Industrial Future
“The launch of the B. Braun Technical Academy is a strategic investment in both our people and the nation’s future. It aligns closely with the Malaysian government’s vision to strengthen TVET as a key pillar of national growth and prepare the workforce for highly advanced manufacturing. What begins in Penang today has the potential to uplift skills across the entire Asia Pacific region. As industries become more technology-driven, adaptable talent will only continue to grow. To remain competitive, we must ensure our people are equipped to grow with the pace of change in manufacturing. The Technical Academy is designed to be exactly that a place where experience meets innovation, where curiosity is encouraged, and where learning never stops,” said Mr. Lam Chee Hong, President, Asia Pacific, B. Braun, at the launch of the training hub.
Officiating the event was Yang Berhormat Tuan Jagdeep Singh a/l Karpal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister II, and Penang State EXCO, Human Capital Development, Science and Technology.
“Penang has enjoyed a strong partnership with B. Braun for over five decades. During this time, the company has consistently championed the development of local talent, believing, as the State Government does, that people are at the heart of sustainable industrial growth. With the establishment of the Technical Academy, we are taking another strategic step together to build Malaysia’s industrial capability. I am pleased to inform that the Penang State Government will invite a representative from B. Braun to sit on the Penang Talent Council to contribute industry perspectives and practical experience in talent development. This collaboration underscores Penang’s commitment to strong public–private partnerships in advancing human capital, innovation, and industrial excellence,” Yang Berhormat Tuan Jagdeep Singh said in his opening speech.
