Bayan Lepas, Penang – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI) reaffirmed its commitment to giving back to the community, by donating RM226,500 to three local charities: Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE Worldwide Malaysia, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Penang, and House of Hope. The funds were raised during the B. Braun Charity Run, which saw 630 employees running for a good cause. The company’s signature corporate social responsibility event has generated funds totalling RM1,488,040 since its inception in 2018.
The donation will be used to support pressing community needs, covering educational, medical and living expenses of the children and families supported by the selected organisations. Part of the funds will also be used to provide basic healthcare services and food assistance to about 400 Orang Asli families in the country.
"The B. Braun name stands for more than medical technology, and our vision to protect and improve the health of people around the world, transcends mere business goals. We believe in creating an inspiring and supportive work environment that allows our people to make a meaningful difference, at work and for the communities we operate in. The B. Braun Charity Run is a testament to our commitment in creating a positive impact, and I am proud that our employees are able to come together to help make a positive impact on our local community," said Mr. Lam Chee Hong, President, Asia Pacific, during the cheque presentation ceremony at the company’s premises in Bayan Lepas today.
On hand to receive the donations were representatives from the three local charities, Ms. June Khoo, Senior Program Manager, Persatuan Kebajikan HOPE Worldwide Malaysia; Mr. Girithren A/L K Veerasingam, President, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Seri Cahaya Pulau Pinang; and Ms. Poh Heem Heem, Managing Director, House of Hope.

About the B. Braun Charity Run
The B. Braun Charity Run began in Penang, Malaysia by Ms. Anna Maria Braun, Chief Executive Officer, B. Braun Group, in 2018, when she was the President of Asia Pacific. It has since become the company’s signature corporate social responsibility event and is held annually at the company’s in-house Sports Facilities, which include a professional-grade running track, two futsal courts, and outdoor fitness equipment. This is the sixth instalment of the charity run, which took a hiatus during the global pandemic.
Since its inception, the B. Braun Charity Run has raised funds which benefitted organisations including Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital, Limbs for Life Prostheses Centre, Malaysian Lysosomal Diseases Association, St. Nicholas’ Home for the Visually Impaired, Fund a Child Surgery, The Children’s Protection Society, and Persatuan Kebajikan Suara Kanak-Kanak Malaysia.
