YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, Deputy Minister of Health, Malaysia, officiated the Asia Pacific Innovation Day 2026 in Penang, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between public-private sectors in shaping the future of healthcare.
Bayan Lepas, Penang – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI), a leading medical technology company, welcomed Yang Berhormat Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia, to officiate the B. Braun Asia Pacific Innovation Day 2026, reaffirming the importance of public-private collaboration in driving innovation and strengthening healthcare ecosystems that contribute to better healthcare outcomes for Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, industry leaders, regulators, academia and innovators from across the Asia Pacific region to exchange insights on emerging healthcare trends, medical technology advancements, research and development, and the future of healthcare delivery.
In her officiating address, YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah highlighted the growing importance of innovation in addressing evolving healthcare challenges, including ageing populations, increasing chronic diseases and rising healthcare demands across the region.
“Healthcare innovation is no longer optional—it is necessary. Innovation today must go beyond introducing new technologies. It must help healthcare systems become more resilient, more sustainable and more patient-centred. It must improve access, strengthen quality and safety, and support healthcare professionals who continue to carry tremendous responsibility every single day,” said YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia.
She also reaffirmed Malaysia’s position as a leading medical technology hub in Southeast Asia and underscored the importance of continued collaboration between government, industry and healthcare stakeholders to strengthen the country’s healthcare ecosystem and support higher-value innovation.
“Healthcare systems today are facing increasing complexity—from demographic shifts and workforce challenges to evolving technologies and rising expectations around quality and efficiency. Addressing these challenges requires more than individual products; it requires collaboration, innovation and integrated solutions that support healthcare professionals and improve patient care,” said Christian Kapischke, Senior Vice President, BMI Operations and Head of Centre of Excellence IV Access, Infusion & Pain Therapy, Hospital Care, B. Braun.
“At B. Braun, innovation is not pursued for its own sake. It begins with understanding the realities faced by healthcare professionals and patients every day, and transforming those insights into solutions that make healthcare safer, more efficient, more accessible and more sustainable. Through platforms such as Innovation Day, we aim to foster meaningful dialogue, exchange expertise and strengthen partnerships that contribute to the future of healthcare,” he added.
Following the event, YB Dato’ Hajjah Hanifah visited BMI’s manufacturing facilities in Bayan Lepas, where she gained first-hand insights into how innovation is translated into high-quality medical technologies through advanced manufacturing processes, engineering expertise and the capabilities of Malaysian talent.
