Bayan Lepas, Penang – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI) has completed a major Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project at its manufacturing operations in Penang, marking an important milestone in the company’s journey towards more responsible and sustainable manufacturing.
With a total installed capacity of 5.495 megawatt-peak (MWp) across its two campuses, the project combines rooftop solar installations with a Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) car park, integrating renewable energy into BMI’s operational infrastructure.
The project’s completion and handover were commemorated recently at BMI’s Bayan Lepas facility, in the presence of Dato’ Seri Loo Lee Lian, Chief Executive Officer of InvestPenang, together with representatives of BMI’s senior leadership and the project’s service provider.
During the handover, Christian Kapischke, Senior Vice President, CoE MEDICAL Products and Operations BMI, said,
“At B. Braun, we protect and improve the health of people around the world. This responsibility must also be reflected in how we use energy, manage resources and shape our operations for the future. The completion of this project demonstrates that responsible manufacturing and operational excellence can go hand in hand. How we manufacture is as important as what we manufacture. Integrating more responsible technologies and practices into our operations is an important part of building a strong and future-ready manufacturing footprint.”
As a medical technology company, B. Braun continues to pursue solutions that strengthen the efficiency and resilience of its operations while advancing more responsible manufacturing. In doing so, the company continues to translate its purpose of protecting and improving the health of people around the world into how it operates and prepares for the future.
